Q) How are you guys different from all the rest?
A) We offer a complete End-to-End solution, where everything is pre-configured and maintained. Our packages include everything you will need to stream your audio. We include the servers, the configuration, the encoders, the bandwidth and the technical support necessary for a complete streaming system. All of our packages use open source, license-free technology to deliver high quality audio.
Q) How long have you been in business?
A) Fiber Hosting Solutions was incorporated in 2002 and is a division of the OK Radio Group. We have been broadcasting for over 30 years and have been focusing on streaming since the early days of the internet.
Q) Why did a radio station get into the audio streaming business?
A) First of all, for ourselves. We were having difficulty finding an effective way to stream audio on the internet. As we developed StreamON! we found the answer to our needs.
Q) What about security?
A) All of our appliances are built using secure Unix platforms and are regularly maintained by our technical people. We have a state of the art data center, and expertise in security.
Q) What does it cost?
A) Variables such as the bitrate of encoding and bandwidth utilization affect pricing. There is also a one time upfront cost for the streaming appliance. Contact us for pricing.
Q) What kind of Internet connection do I need?
A) Cable/DSL or faster.
Q) Can I customize the audio player?
A) The player can be customized with your logo to fit with your website.
Q) What if some sort of technical problem arises?
A) It's not a problem! All of our appliances are configured for remote access so that our group of technicians can restore everything to normal as quickly as possible.
If the problem generated from your end then one of three things might have happened. The appliance may not be plugged in to the audio line, the internet line, or the electrical plug. Other than those three things, we take care of the rest of the technical problems.
Q) Can I provide my own hardware?
A) You could, but we strongly discourage it. Our system runs on a modified Unix operating system optimized for our specific purposes. Configuring these systems with familiar hardware makes future technical support impossible. Thus if you decide to use your own hardware, we may not be able to provide technical support. Furthermore, volume purchasing of hardware allows us to keep prices very competitive.
Q) What information do you require to pre-configure our Streaming Appliance?
A) We will need to know what IP address we should allocate to the Appliance. This will help to ensure that the Appliance is able to access the Internet and send audio to our data center.
Q) How do I pay?
A) We prefer Visa, Mastercard or American Express. If you are interested in other payment options, please contact us and we can discuss alternatives.
Q) How do I get started?
A) Refer to the "Getting Started" link on the website. Most questions are answered and the start-up procedure is spelled out in detail.
Q) Do you have a statistical package?
A) Yes! A standard statistical analysis package is available at no extra cost.
Q) What is Ogg Vorbis?
A) An open source, top quality encoder with no licensing fees.
Q) Can I use dial-up internet to listen to the station?
A) If you're using a 24kbps package, yes.
